Houston law enforcement responded to an officer-involved shooting incident in Jacinto City, as multiple departments were conducting auto-theft investigations. Assistant Chief Megan Howard from the Houston Police Department stated that an officer discharged his weapon following a vehicle theft at 10310 East Freeway. This occurred after two suspects were involved in suspicious activity around an SUV near a red truck in a parking lot, FOX 26 Houston reports.

The unfolding of events saw one suspect entering the red truck while the other tried to drive the SUV across the grass to exit the parking. When officers attempted to prevent their escape by blocking the driveway, the suspect in the stolen truck reversed and then moved forward toward an officer. "In an attempt to stop the driver, the officer shot at the vehicle two times," explains Howard in a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston.

According to a brief statement by the Houston Police via a post, no persons were struck by the gunfire and there were no injuries reported. The suspect involved in the auto theft was subsequently placed in custody. "HPD Commanders and PIO are en route to an officer involved shooting at 10310 East Freeway. No person was struck and there are no injuries," the post read.

More detailed information is expected to be disclosed as the investigation proceeds.
