
A jogger was hospitalized after a brutal attack occurred at Houston's Memorial Park over the weekend. The assault took place early in the morning on Saturday near the 6500 block of Memorial Drive and the Houston Police Department is actively searching for the assailant, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
The victim was jogging when she was approached and subsequently assaulted by a man who accused her of running over his family member, after the man dragged, attacked and hit the woman off of the trail, a witness came upon the scene and intervened, causing the man to flee, this according to the Click2Houston news. The police have released a description of the suspect as being approximately 5'8" with a medium build, shoulder-length dark, curly hair, wearing a T-shirt and dark shorts.
Currently, the woman is still in the hospital recovering from the attack; meanwhile, the Houston Police is checking for updates on her status with plans to speak with her. No information about the identity of the man or the victim has been disclosed by authorities at this time.
In response to the incident, the Central Patrol Division of the HPD has increased its visibility in the Memorial Park area to provide a heightened sense of security and police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact HPD's Major Assaults Division at 713-306-8800.
