Early Saturday morning, the Hudson Police Department made arrests following a smash-and-grab incident at a local smoke shop. Chief Richard P. DiPersio confirmed that three juveniles were apprehended after the DAB Smoke Shop, located at 234 Washington St., had its front entrance forcibly entered by a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Authorities were alerted by a burglar alarm and upon inspection, they found evidence suggesting that the alleged theft involved driving a car into the store.

Following the incident, a lookout was sent out to nearby law enforcement to keep an eye for a vehicle supporting front-end damage consistent with the crime. Not long afterwards, Marlborough Police, with the assistance of a Massachusetts State Trooper, managed to locate and stop a damaged vehicle seemingly involved in the event. "This is an example of strong police work, and it should send a message that break-ins and burglaries at our local businesses will not be tolerated," Chief DiPersio said, according to the official Hudson Police Facebook page.

The suspects, a 15-year-old male from Boston, a 16-year-old male from Quincy, and a 17-year-old male from Danvers were taken into custody. During the investigation, supposedly stolen merchandise from DAB Smoke Shop was discovered. The vehicle implicated in the crime was impounded, and two of the arrested suspects were held on bail while the third was released to their guardians. All three are to be arraigned at Framingham Juvenile Court, as reported by an announcement on the Hudson Police Department's Facebook page.

Reflecting on the swift response, Chief DiPersio commended the efforts of the Hudson police officers and detectives, saying, "We have tremendous relationships with our neighboring agencies, and that teamwork was on full display early Saturday morning, resulting in the arrests of three juveniles in this audacious and brazen criminal act," as noted by the Hudson Police Department. The Chief's commendation to his squad emphasized their combined efforts in ensuring the safety of local businesses. Despite the arrests, the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, a reminder necessary in the pursuit of justice.
