Authorities in Montgomery County are currently investigating a deeply troubling incident involving multiple dead dogs at a residence in Cut and Shoot. According to the Houston Chronicle, local animal cruelty investigators were called to the scene yesterday following reports from residents about deceased canines discovered in a neighbor's kennel.
Alton Neeley, an investigator with the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, has reportedly begun an initial investigation into the matter. "We just got brought into this," Neeley shared in a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle. Officials are yet to release further details as the investigation remains in its early stages.
Witnesses and locals recount a grisly scene. At least five dead dogs were found, with some of the remains located in kennels. "We then see dog bones, and corpses in the kennels, like they died where they laid," Melanie Jackson told FOX26 Houston. Her daughter, Alyssa, added additional harrowing details about kennels in the garage that appeared to harbor matted remains.
The person at the center of these allegations, described by neighbors as a dog rescuer and foster on social media, hasn't been named as criminal charges have not been filed. Neighbors, including Traci Ruzicka, expressed regret for not taking action sooner. "I heard a lot of moaning and loud barking back in March," Ruzicka recounted in an interview with FOX26 Houston. "Unfortunately, I ignored it. I should have called animal control or something."
For those with information pertinent to this case, Montgomery County officials encourage contacting Animal Control or the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable's Office.
