If you're looking for a bit of civic engagement with your bubble tea, mark your calendars for August 6, as Council Vice President Chughtai is setting up shop for Open Office Hours at Tii Cup in Uptown, Minneapolis. According to an announcement on the city's official website, the session starts at noon at 2645 Hennepin Ave South. It's an informal setting where residents can engage in a dialogue, seek assistance, and voice their concerns directly to the elected official and her staff.
The location of the Tii Cup is no coincidence. Sandwiched by the Hennepin Avenue South Reconstruction Project, the business is a fresh face in the neighborhood, diving into Uptown's renewal. To rally community support and grapple with the effects of the construction, the Council Vice President's team sees these office hours as a dual opportunity to connect with constituents and boost local commerce. “We plan to continue to hold office hours in parts of the community impacted by construction, as one way to encourage people to support Ward 10 businesses working through the challenges associated with a large infrastructure project,” the bulletin says.
For those interested in attending, there's no need to RSVP. The council office encourages just dropping in—whether it's to discuss policy, air a grievance, or simply get a better understanding of local government workings. As the city's announcement puts it, "We hope to see you there to address your needs and support our incredible local businesses!" And so, if the thought of making a civic difference over a tapioca-infused beverage appeals to you, Tii Cup awaits your visit next Tuesday.
