In Cobb County, a confession and a court's decision have brought a case of child molestation to a conclusive end. 54-year-old Wolford Hunter Kilgore of Kennesaw entered a guilty plea to charges that included aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. According to a report by FOX5 Atlanta, the plea was submitted on August 16, and it brought to a close an investigation that had been underway since allegations first surfaced in May 2020.
The victim disclosed that she had been subjected to ongoing abuse by Kilgore in his home, a pattern that escalated over an 18-month time frame. Details emerged after Kilgore confessed to the crimes during a stay at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. His admissions coincided with the victim's account, offering prosecutors compelling evidence to support their case. As reported by Atlanta News First, he is now sentenced to 40 years, with an order to serve the first 15 in prison without the possibility of parole and the remaining 25 under probation.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Raynor, and Judge Julie Adams Jacobs imposed the significant sentence. Aside from the prison time, Kilgore is mandated to register as a sex offender and prohibited from contacting the victim.
"I want to commend the courage of the victim in coming forward and the hard work of our team and law enforcement partners in bringing this case to a successful conclusion," Broady Jr. told Atlanta News First.
