At approximately 9:42 p.m. on August 29, Long Beach Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Aquarium Way responding to reports of a shooting, as detailed in a bulletin from the Long Beach Police Department. The LBPD reported that a verbal confrontation between a male suspect and an unidentified female escalated when three male juveniles attempted to intervene. In the ensuing scuffle, the suspect pulled a firearm and discharged it, thankfully not hitting anyone.
The report continues that after the incident, both the suspect and the victims fled the scene. A short while later, officers were called to the 0 block of W Shoreline Drive about a male brandishing a gun. Law enforcement promptly arrested the suspect at the scene and concluded he was the gunman from the earlier incident. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Las Vegas resident Iopu Kaino Tauiliili, was charged with one count of robbery and one count of assault with a firearm. In a nod to the department's quick response, the bulletin highlights that officers safely took another gun off the streets, with Tauiliili's bail set at $50,000.

During a vehicle traffic stop in the 1000 block of Obispo Avenue around 2:41 p.m., officers conducted an arrest of a suspect later determined to be unlawfully in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
