The Long Beach Police Department released a summary of notable incidents from last night, including two separate shootings and the confiscation of three firearms across the city. According to the LBPD blotter, the first shooting occurred in the 1400 block of Locust Avenue at about 10:28 p.m. on August 5, where officers found evidence of discharging firearms, but no suspects or victims were present at the scene.

Further into the night, at around 12:47 a.m. on August 6, police responded to a second shooting at the intersection of 14th Street and Daisy Avenue, as per the LBPD. The victim, a male adult in his vehicle, received a superficial wound to the upper body after being struck by gunfire. Before officers arrived, the suspect or suspects involved in the hit shooting had fled, leaving behind evidence corroborating the incident.

In addition to the shootings, LBPD's efforts to reduce gun-related crimes saw the removal of three guns from the community. A routine traffic stop on August 5 at around 2:05 p.m. in the 3700 block of Lakewood Boulevard led to the first recovery of a firearm, as reported by the LBPD. The arrest of the suspect was made, progressing an ongoing investigation.

The second recovery was made at about 7:39 p.m. during another traffic stop, this time near Anaheim Street and Pine Avenue. Officers found a firearm and subsequently arrested the suspect, involved in the traffic stop. Later in the evening, the police were summoned to address a reported domestic violence incident in the block of 1600 Cherry Avenue. After investigating, they recovered a firearm and arrested the suspect in connection to the disturbance.
