The Long Beach Police Department reported a series of incidents in the city, including two shootings with no injuries and the arrest of an individual found to be illegally in possession of a firearm. According to the official LBPD blotter, officers were called to the 4900 block of Long Beach Boulevard on August 24 after reports of gunfire were heard at around 5:11 p.m.; they discovered evidence of a shooting but no victims and the suspects had fled before their arrival.

A similar incident occurred early the next morning, at about 3:25 a.m. on August 25, in the 5500 block of Lemon Avenue, where once again officers found evidence of a shooting, but no suspects were apprehended at the scene, no injuries were reported in connection with either of the shootings and both investigations remain active as authorities work to establish motives and identify those responsible. In both cases, the LBPD has not released suspect information as of yet.

In a separate incident on the evening of August 24, Long Beach police officers conducted a pedestrian stop near 10th Street and Alamitos Avenue at approximately 8:19 p.m. During their investigation, they seized a firearm from an individual who was later identified as a prohibited possessor. The suspect was arrested with the LBPD stating, "Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took a gun off the streets" as they commended the effectiveness of their patrol in potentially preventing another crime.
