A structure fire broke out in the Eagle Rock neighborhood at a single-family home earlier this morning. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department's alert, the incident occurred at 4954 N Floristan Avenue at approximately 9:53 AM.
Initial reports from the scene indicated heavy smoke billowing from the property, suggesting the possibility of an attic fire. Firefighters took an offensive stance to combat the blaze, conducting a thorough search of the premises that turned out to be clear, confirming there were no occupants inside at the time the fire started to aggressively consume the interior. This information was detailed through an LAFD alert statement.
The firefighting team, consisting of units including FS 42, Batt 2, and Central Bureau, among others, successfully achieved a knockdown of the fire by 10:14 AM, as stated by an update on the LAFD’s official website. It took 32 firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the flames completely.
Notably, during a secondary search of the affected property, firefighters found and rescued a cat. The condition of the animal was not immediately known. Fortunately, there were no human injuries reported about the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no further details have been released at this moment.
