Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has officially charged Andrew Sandoval, with extensive ties to Southern California schools and child care centers, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of two minors, the DA's office announced. In allegations that span from November 2015 to the present, the suspect is accused of committing lewd acts upon children within LA County, not only inflicting immediate trauma but potentially leaving long-lasting scars on the young victims and their communities.
Currently held on a $7,050,000 bail, Sandoval faced an array of charges including seven counts of lewd act upon a child under age 14; one count of sodomy with a child younger than 10, and two counts of oral copulation with a child the same age; investigators also discovered Sandoval had over 600 images of child or youth porn, District Attorney Gascón pointed out the need for public assistance to identify any additional victims, due to the suspect's employment at various educational and childcare facilities across the county which raises fear there, might be more undisclosed cases, as reported by Los Angeles County District Attorney Office.
The joint investigation effort, led by the South Gate Police Department with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department, has already unearthed electronic evidence alongside the incriminating images on Sandoval's devices, with Sandoval already behind bars since his July 24 arrest, according to the official statement from the District Attorney's office.
"The seriousness of this case underscores the need to invest in the necessary resources to investigate, pursue and prosecute suspects involved in acts of child exploitation and abuse of any kind. This case, in particular, is shocking to its core and we will continue to unearth the leads that detectives have unveiled during the course of this investigation. We will not rest until all leads have been exhausted,” South Gate Police Chief Darren Arakawa stated, as per the Los Angeles County District Attorney Office.
