Los Angeles authorities are currently on the search for a driver responsible for a severe hit-and-run incident in West Hills. According to CBS News Los Angeles, the collision, which left a motorist in critical condition, occurred in the early hours of August 3. The suspect, driving a white Acura sedan, is said to have sideswiped a gray BMW on Topanga Canyon Boulevard before fleeing the scene.

The LAPD is now actively seeking any information that could lead to the apprehension of the individual at the wheel of the white Acura. With dashcam footage from a nearby vehicle released to the public, officials are hopeful that witnesses will come forward. The video captured on camera, shared on LAPD's YouTube channel, shows the suspect's vehicle hurriedly passing another car, before attempting to dangerously split between two vehicles on the road, leading to the crash. “a white Acura 4-door sedan traveling northbound on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, north of Parthenia Street, sideswiped a gray 2022 BMW sedan, causing the driver of the BMW to lose control and collide with a pole," said the police statement.

Additionally, the LAPD reminded drivers of their legal obligation to stop and provide assistance in the event of a traffic collision. The hit-and-run reward program, established by the City Council in 2015, offers up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification and conviction of offenders in such cases.

The unfortunate incident has prompted officials to call on the community to aid in solving this felony hit-and-run. The city's offer stands as an attempt to encourage those with knowledge of the event to come forward. "A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise," detailed the LAPD's request for public assistance.
