A Lynn man has been given a prison sentence following his guilty plea in a case involving a North Shore drug trafficking organization (DTO). Christopher Tejeda, 23, will face one year and a day in federal lockup, on top of three years of supervised release. His home confinement will cover the first year, according to a release by the United States Attorney's Office.

Sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Dennis F. Saylor IV, Tejeda's role in the DTO was to transport and deliver controlled substances, such as fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills and methamphetamine-containing counterfeit Adderall. Picked up and supervised by his relative, Javier Bello, Tejeda carried substances and cash between DTO members and buyers. Using Lynn as a base, their operations spread throughout the local area, distributing thousands of these dangerous counterfeit pills.

February 2024 saw Tejeda plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. The DTO, in the meantime, has been the target of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. This multi-agency approach aims to dismantle criminal organizations posing significant threats to public safety. The operation has already seen several other members of the DTO prosecuted, with announcements made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and other law enforcement officials.

Another key figure in the operation, Lawrence Nagle Sr., received a lengthy 151-month sentence earlier this August. Scheduled to face his own judgment on September 9, 2024, is Javier Bello, after his guilty plea in May 2024. The collaborative efforts of the DEA and the Massachusetts State Police, along with local law enforcement agencies, have been vital in bringing down this DTO.

While the specific details listed in the indictment are merely allegations, the defendants are held to remain innocent until proven guilty. As the outcome of the case hinges on the proceedings prescribed by law, the information in these cases serves to illuminate the ongoing battle against the influx of dangerous controlled substances in our communities.
