On a Tuesday morning in Adelanto, what started as a routine day quickly erupted into chaos when Luis Perez, 34, reportedly took to the streets wielding a metal pole. The incident, which resulted in his arrest, occurred at the intersection of Chamberlaine Way and Aster Road around 8:33 a.m, as confirmed by authorities.
A 911 call alerted deputies to the unfolding scene where Perez was allegedly seen aggressively emerging from bushes, obstructing traffic, and threatening drivers with the pole. One motorist fell victim to Perez’s rampage as he leaped onto their vehicle, striking it multiple times before subsequently allowing them to quickly to drive off. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department provided details of the confrontation in a public statement issued soon after the arrest.
Upon their arrival, deputies faced the assailant’s agitation head-on as Perez hurled the pole at them and attempted a getaway on foot. The pursuit was brief, however, as Perez was apprehended without additional incidents. The charges laid against him include assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, with bail set at $70,000.00.
