A man has been taken into custody by Seattle Police following an incident where he allegedly drove under the influence, and crashed into a building in North Seattle on August 10th. According to the Seattle Police Blotter, the vehicle was seen speeding across Aurora Avenue North before the collision.
Responding to the scene around 6:23 p.m., officers found the van lodged in a lumber warehouse. A 58-year-old passenger, who was covered in paint after the crash, had broken a glass door with a chair and was on the verge of assaulting a firefighter when the police intervened, exposing themselves to toxic fumes from the spill but were reportedly unharmed, as detailed by the Seattle Police Department. The Seattle Fire Department, wearing breathing apparatus — handled the situation by removing the driver from the wreckage.
The driver, a 62-year-old man, received medical attention for minor injuries at Harborview Medical Center while awaiting a DUI search warrant for a blood test. Police suspect he was driving under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash. After his evaluation, he was arrested for DUI and subsequently booked into King County Jail, as per the Seattle Police Department.
