Tragedy struck North Fairmount this week when 60-year-old Troy Rudd was declared dead following an alleged altercation involving blunt-force trauma. According to Local12, the incident occurred yesterday, near the 2500 block of Linden Street, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Responding to a report of an injured person, Cincinnati Police arrived to find Troy Rudd with injuries indicative of a violent assault.
In connection to his death, 25-year-old Joseph Rudd, as per a Local12 report, has been arrested and charged with murder. Despite sharing a surname, it was initially unclear whether the two men had familial ties.
However, new information surfaced, as reported by WCPO, indicating that the accused, Joseph Rudd, is the son of the victim. Prosecutors allege Joseph "struck his dad [Troy] in the head," an aggressive act that led to the elder Rudd's death.
Adding to the heinousness of the crime, prosecutors shared that Joseph Rudd removed his ankle monitor suggestively to flee, only for the discarded device to be discovered alongside his father's body. Joseph Rudd, now under a $2 million bond, awaits a grand jury appearance on September 5.
