A manhunt is underway in St. Clair County after a man allegedly stabbed members of his family in Fort Gratiot Township. According to the ClickOnDetroit report, the incident took place yesterday, around 7:30 p.m. A 56-year-old man sustained multiple stabbing wounds and a 55-year-old woman suffered cuts on her hands in what appears to be a domestic dispute gone violent.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brent Durrant, described as 6 feet tall and around 150 pounds. He was reportedly last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and brown pants. In a detail that could be crucial to public safety, authorities have emphasized that Durrant has a mental disability and may still be armed with a knife. The Sheriff's Office, as noted in a post obtained by their official Facebook page, is advising the public not to approach him if spotted but instead to call 911 immediately.
Following the incident, multiple police agencies, the Fort Gratiot Fire Department, and Tri-Hospital EMS were dispatched to the scene on Parker Road, near Krafft Road. Despite a thorough search by law enforcement, Durrant managed to evade capture and his whereabouts remain unknown. The authorities are continuing their search and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau is actively involved in the efforts to locate Durrant. People in the vicinity are cautioned to stay vigilant and report any sightings of Durrant to law enforcement.
