In a recent display of community and duty, Mankato welcomed a fresh batch of protectors into its fold. Six individuals, four police officers, and two firefighters were formally sworn into their roles, pledging to serve the city with courage and commitment. According to the Mankato Police and Fire Department's Facebook page, this ceremonial rite is a recognition of the responsibilities they are set to undertake as guardians of public safety.
While yesterday's ceremony marked their formal induction, many of the officers and firefighters have already been serving the community in their respective capacities. The event publicly cemented their oath to protect and serve the residents of Mankato. Firefighter Robert Atzenhoefer, Firefighter Mike Wetzel, Officer Keaton Rutz, Officer Austin Cook, Officer Landon Strong, and Officer Calleigh Cogswell stood proud as they were honored for their commendable resolve. Granted having their commitment officially acknowledged, several of these professionals have been part of the team for some time.
The ceremony, besides serving as official recognition of duty, provides an opportunity for the community to congratulate and show their appreciation for these new members. As posted on the Mankato Police and Fire Department's social media, "Taking the Oath of Office marks a significant moment for our new personnel, reaffirming their dedication to protecting and serving the Mankato community."
The citizens of Mankato are invited to extend their wishes for a safe and fulfilling career to these service members. Joining the chorus of support, the Mankato Police and Fire Department extended its gratitude, "We appreciate your service to the Mankato community!" This event underscores the bond between the community and its service members, as they both celebrate a commitment to safety and service. Ready to respond to the beckon of duty, these individuals embark on their journey equipped with the trust of the community they vow to protect.
