A Butler Tech administrator has been trapped in legal trouble after being indicted on nearly two dozen child pornography charges, according to reports by Local 12. David Campbell of Mason, Ohio, faces 23 counts regarding the pandering and possession of sexually explicit materials involving minors. The school where Campbell served as the director of robotics, engineering, aviation, and manufacturing responded by placing him on administrative leave the day the indictment was handed down.
Law enforcement's lead stemmed from an "online investigation" into individuals sharing child pornography, which revealed an IP address linked to Campbell, followed by a search of his electronics, as WLWT reported. In light of the serious allegations, Campbell's attorney, Joe Suhre, has entered a not-guilty plea for his client, affirming a commitment to contending against the charges Campbell stood in front of a Warren County judge yesterday afternoon for his arraignment, where prosecutors advocated for a $20,000 bond.
The investigation, rooted in the actions unraveled in March and April, has yet to implicate local students as victims in the distressing matter. Prosecutors affirmed this significant detail and reiterated it in reports by FOX19 NOW. Yet, the community's sense of safety and trust in those entrusted with the development of future generations remain duly shaken.
Despite the gravity of the allegations, an "OR bond" was granted, which allowed Campbell's release on his recognizance, coupled with a stringent requirement for house arrest and electronic monitoring sharing this detail, FOX19 NOW the decision taken by the court. As the case unwinds, with its many legal intricacies, the public watches on, awaiting the unfolding of a story that has undoubtedly cast a shadow on a once-revered institution.
