Massive Fentanyl Haul Intercepted on Interstate 5: Oregon Authorities Arrest Two Suspected of Drug TraffickingSource: DEA

Authorities in Oregon have reported a significant seizure of fentanyl-laced pills, making two arrests during a traffic stop in Southern Oregon. The suspects, identified as Daniel Pena Gragoso, 42, and Josue Itzel Gomez, 28, were discovered with 60 pounds of illicit drugs, which are estimated to be around 276,000 pills, on Interstate 5. The substantial quantity of pills was found concealed in two five-gallon buckets following a consented vehicle search by an Oregon State trooper, as per KOIN.

As reported by KOIN, the search was conducted after the trooper stopped a commercial motor vehicle tractor unit. It was during this routine stop that the discovery was made, prompting the arrests of Pena Gragoso and Gomez, who now face charges of possession and delivery of fentanyl. The seizure of such a massive amount of drugs highlights the ongoing fight against the opioid epidemic, with law enforcement actively seeking to disrupt the flow of these dangerous substances into communities.

According to KATU, a K-9 unit assisted in the search that led to the find both Pena Gragoso and Gomez are from Mexico and have been lodged at the Jackson County Jail as the investigation proceeds.
