The City of Mesquite is set to hold a Patriot Day memorial service in remembrance of those who perished during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The ceremony, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, will take place at Mesquite Freedom Park, according to the City of Mesquite.
The public event is slated to feature a range of solemn tributes, including the Mesquite Police and Fire Honor Guards, and the Mesquite Fire Department Pipes and Drum Corps. Auditory homage will also be paid through performances by Mesquite High School's choir and a kindergarten class from Florence Black Elementary School, which has been detailed in the City of Mesquite.
Mesquite Freedom Park, located at 1527 N. Galloway Ave on the North Lawn of the Mesquite Arts Center, carries a potent symbol of the tragic day with an actual piece of steel from one of the Twin Towers. This remnant serves as a stark reminder of the lives lost and the unyielding spirit of American resilience in the face of terror.
