The Metropolitan Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect following an armed robbery incident that took place in the Northwest segment of the city. According to a release posted on the department's official website, the robbery occurred early in the morning on Wednesday, July 31 in the 800 block of G Street, Northwest. The suspect is reported to have attacked the victim with a metal pipe after a brief interaction.
At around 2:39 a.m., the suspect, who is still at large, asked the victim for a cigarette and money. When the victim tried to walk away, the person was met with violence. The victim, armed with nothing but an attempt at escape, was struck and subsequently robbed of their belongings by the suspect. The individual sustained injuries that were treated by DC Fire and EMS at the scene and were not considered life-threatening.
Residents in the Northwest area are encouraged to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation. Fleeing the scene before the authorities arrived, the suspect's whereabouts remain unknown. The department urges anyone who might have seen something out of the ordinary around the time of the robbery to contact them.
