
A pursuit in Ceres led to the arrest of a Modesto duo after they were discovered with illegal firearms, drugs, and equipment for making counterfeit money. Ceres Police Department reported that on August 15, an officer was flagged down at the intersection of Lavon Lane and Myrtlewood Dr regarding a suspicious vehicle, upon investigating, the vehicle was found to contain Daniel Turnbough, 27, and Samantha Marcum, 32, both of Modesto, Turnbough being wanted on an outstanding warrant.
When requested to exit the vehicle, Turnbough instead initiated a vehicle chase with police, which ended when he and Marcum abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot. The officer's efforts combined with public assistance led to their eventual detention, upon which officials retrieved two firearms, ammunition, various narcotics, counterfeit bills, and printing materials aimed at producing more of such counterfeit currency among their possessions.
The suspects have been booked at Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a litany of charges that include evading a peace officer, the unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a felon in possession of a firearm, a prohibited person possessing ammunition, engaging in the workings of counterfeit currency, giving false information to police, as well as for an outstanding warrant and probation violations.
