A Moorhead man, identified as Jamie Richard White, age 46, has entered a guilty plea to a charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. As reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Minnesota, White's admission came after being accused of participating in a distribution chain from April 2023 through February 2024, aiming to distribute more than 500 grams of the substance.
Details shared by court documents reveal an instance where authorities uncovered over 400 grams of powder fentanyl, laced with the animal tranquilizer xylazine, at White's residence. This discovery was incidental to an operation focused on a different alleged crime - the unlawful restraint of a woman in White's basement. Texts from White's mobile phone confirmed his plans to quickly distribute the dangerous fentanyl/xylazine combo. After being arrested and charged with various state crimes, White was taken into custody and later released on bond in December 2023.
This whole incident has made the record books as Clay County's, Minnesota's largest combined seizure of methamphetamine. A federal court saw White enter his guilty plea for the conspiracy charge before Judge Nancy E. Brasel. His past criminal history has set him up to potentially face a 15-year mandatory minimum prison sentence, pending a scheduled sentencing hearing.
The apprehension of White and the dismantling of this drug operation is attributed to the collaborative efforts of various agencies, including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Clay County Sheriff's Office, and the Moorhead Police Department. The prosecution is currently being led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren O. Roso.
