Residents of Morrison County, specifically in the townships of Platte and Pulaski, awoke recently to a spree of property damage and illegal hunting activity. The Sheriff's Office, accompanied by a MN DNR officer, found evidence of a deceased deer, riddled with a 12-gauge shotgun wound, along with shot-up mailboxes, street signs, and electrical boxes, as reported by Morrison County. This destruction was not isolated to a single act of wanton vandalism but rather appeared to be a series of events that authorities believe are connected.
The incidents took place during the dark shroud of pre-dawn hours, first reported between 12:30 am and 1:00 am on August 13, and were seemingly repeated the next day around 4:00 am, according to Morrison County. Spent casings were found scattered across multiple locations, leaving a trail of clue breadcrumbs for investigators, who now look to tie these casings to the culprits; the search is on for an older, notably loud truck associated with the crimes, as Morrison County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information to come forth.
This string of illegal and dangerous activities has prompted Sheriff Shawn Larsen to issue a call for assistance from the public. "If you have information regarding this incident or the vehicle in question, you are asked to contact the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office at 320-632-9233," said Sheriff Larsen.
