According to MPD, the incident took place in the early hours of July 30, on Vermont Avenue, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The victim, a male, was standing in the 1100 block of Vermont Avenue around 2:34 a.m. when he was forcefully pulled into the street by one of the suspects. He was subsequently surrounded by additional assailants. "A suspect demanded money and went into the victim’s pocket," MPD detailed in their report, adding that the suspects proceeded to assault the victim before making off with his belongings. During the altercation, the victim sustained injuries, though they were reported as non-life-threatening.

MPD has released video footage with the hope that it will prompt community members to come forward with information leading to the identification of the suspects involved.
