Commuters on Interstate 71 northbound experienced significant delays yesterday due to a crash that blocked traffic near the 17.9-mile marker in Symmes Township, as reported by WLWT. While no injuries were confirmed at the time of the crash, the incident caused traffic congestion, aggravating the daily commute for many. Hamilton County police and fire departments were at the scene addressing the situation.
In a related report by FOX19, it was disclosed that an earlier crash on northbound Interstate 71, involving a motorcycle and a semi, required one person to be transported to the hospital after it occurred just after 3:30 a.m. Monday near the Stewart Road exit in Silverton. The highway was briefly closed, and then deputies blocked the ramp off the highway onto Stewart Road, causing further disruptions for early morning traffic flows.
According to dispatchers, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire District responded to the motorcycle and semi-crash. Details about the condition of the person taken to the hospital have not been released. The intersection's re-opening brought a measure of relief to motorists who had been redirected or stalled due to the closure.
