A tragic accident occurred yesterday in Muskegon Township, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old female driver and the injury of another motorist. FOX 17 reported that the crash happened just before 7 a.m. on northbound US-31 at the interchange with Skyline Drive, where the driver lost control of her vehicle on the freeway on-ramp's curve.
The woman's vehicle subsequently veered off the pavement, rolled over, and she was ejected from her seat. According to WZZM 13, her car then went airborne before colliding with two other northbound vehicles on US-31. One of the drivers struck suffered injuries but has been treated for non-life-threatening conditions.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved as they continue to notify family members. The area was closed for several hours to facilitate cleanup but has since been reopened. Speed is believed to have been a likely factor in the incident, a detail echoed across multiple reports. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
WOOD TV also confirmed that emergency responders rushed the woman to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Muskegon Township Police Department is leading the probe into the exact circumstances of the crash. No further information has been disclosed as the police department continues to thoroughly look into the crash's cause and sequence of events.
