Starting October 1, Seguin residents will need to adapt to new rules regarding their trash disposal due to amendments in the city's contract with Waste Connections. Under the new system, trash and recycling carts must find their way to the curb by 6 a.m. on collection day or risk being overlooked until the next service period. To avoid any confusion, items must be contained within these carts; anything left beside or outside of them won't make the trip to the landfill.
Getting ahead of potential pileups, city officials have tweaked bulky item collection, shifting from a weekly to a quarterly schedule. According to an announcement by the City of Seguin, each household is permitted two bulky items per quarter for curb pickup. For those striving to declutter more frequently, up to four vouchers—obtainable at City Hall—are offered for additional drop-offs at the Post Oak Landfill Citizen Convenience Center.
Seguin offers an app, promising to guide residents through these changes with ease. By entering one’s address in the City Services App, the assigned dates for bulky item collection can easily be retrieved. This digital shift aims to minimize confusion and keep the city streets orderly.
Additional bulky items that won't wait for quarterly collections can be escorted to the landfill using vouchers picked up from the City Secretary’s Office. Offered exclusively to the people of Seguin, the city encourages utilizing this amenity for efficient and cost-free disposal.
