
A tragic incident unfolded in North Hollywood earlier this week when a man in his 40s was fatally struck by a stray bullet that pierced through the wall of his apartment. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of "shots fired" on the 5600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, according to LAPD's newsroom.
Upon arrival, the victim was discovered with a gunshot wound, responders pronounced him dead at the scene, as per ABC7. Further investigation revealed that the fatal bullet had been fired from an adjacent apartment, it penetrated the neighboring wall directly into the victim's unit. This case has prompted a homicide investigation by the LAPD's Valley Bureau Homicide detectives.
The identity of the man has not been disclosed, pending notification of his next of kin. The LAPD has yet to locate a suspect or ascertain the circumstances leading up to this deadly event. The investigation continues as detectives piece together what happened in the moments before the shooting.
Authorities are calling on the public to come forward with any information that may assist in solving the case.
