An attempted robbery at a tobacco store in Norwalk turned fatal when the store owner shot and killed one of the suspects. The attempted robbery occurred Tuesday morning, around 9 a.m., in the 10900 block of Firestone Boulevard, as reported by KTLA. The owner, in what he described as an act of self-defense, shot one of the would-be robbers in the chest after an altercation developed, according to the store's account to investigators.

The fatally wounded suspect was found in a nearby alley and later pronounced dead at a local hospital, transforming the case into a homicide investigation. The other two suspects, prevented from using their getaway car as it was blocked, were forced to quickly flee on foot. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department set up a containment area to apprehend them, as noted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept Information Bureau.

Meanwhile, the search for the other suspects ended when they were located and taken into custody. Their capture came after a search perimeter was established around homes near Elmcroft Avenue and Hermes Street, as ABC7 included in their coverage.
