An Ohio teenager met a tragic end over the weekend when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Michigan; authorities have identified the young man as Levi Hess, a 17-year-old from Edgerton, Ohio. Yesterday, around 1:30 a.m., Hess lost control of his pickup truck in Camden, a town in Hillsdale County that borders Indiana and Ohio, which led to the vehicle striking two parked cars in a driveway, as reported by CBS News Detroit.
The Michigan State Police, who responded to the scene following the incident, indicated that the truck veered off N. Main Street before it came to a halt against the parked cars, and while Hess was taken to a local hospital, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries; further, the Michigan State Police Jackson Post, via a statement on their website, stated that alcohol and speed are believed to have been contributing factors in this unfortunate event, as the young man's 16-year-old male passenger, who has not been publicly named, was airlifted to a children's hospital in Ann Arbor grappling with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, MSP First District reported.

Edgerton High School, where Hess was enrolled as a junior and actively participated in sports such as football, baseball, and wrestling, released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss; the school stated, "It is with profound sadness that we learned the tragic news of the passing of Levi Hess, a student at Edgerton High School, who lost his life in an automobile accident over the weekend" and affirmed the impact of Hess's death on the school's community, as conveyed in a statement obtained by WTOL.
