A grim scene unfolded in east Columbus where one person was fatally shot yesterday evening, police say. The incident was reported around 7:50 p.m. on the 1200 block of South Hamilton Road, according to WBNS. Officers dispatched to the scene found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The yet-to-be-identified person was promptly transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital and was pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m. A report from NBC4i adds that the police have yet to disclose what precipitated the shooting or whether any suspects have been detained.
