Orlando Fringe ArtSpace Hosts 'Soul Pop: Summer of Soul' Concert Series with Diverse Weekly Guest ArtistsSource: Google Street View

Ongoing until August 25th, Sonflower Joy Music's interactive concert extravaganza, Soul Pop: Summer of Soul, is currently enchanting audiences at the Orlando Fringe ArtSpace. The show promises a blend of renowned pop and soul tunes, from the likes of Whitney Houston and Earth Wind & Fire to Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift. The concert series kicked off on August 9, alongside an array of engaging lobby activities, setting an all-inclusive background for a splashing good time away from Orlando's damp weather, as mentioned by ClickOrlando.

But it's not just about covering from the relentless humidity, it's about immersing in a musical journey described as a trip to a galaxy "filled with pop, love and a whole lot of soul," as detailed by Orlando Weekly. Each week, the performance introduces a new special guest artist, adding a layer of anticipation to an already stellar lineup. As if the musical array wasn't tempting enough, attendees are greeted with an inviting pre-show atmosphere complete with food, vendors, and art, all within the harmonious confines of Fringe ArtSpace's lobby.

The venue recently rebounded from a drenching setback involving an HVAC-induced flood but managed to rally for a sold-out showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and now, the Soul Pop: Summer of Soul. Meka King, the founder, and CEO of Sonflower Joy Music and veteran performer led the troupe of talented artists, such as AC Jenkins and Saige Love, on what she describes as a musical expedition unlike any other. "We're doing familiar music our own way. We really are friends and family who love performing together," King shared in a statement cited by Orlando Weekly.

As part of Orlando Fringe’s “The Collective” program, the Soul Pop event embodies an aspiration to grow artistic companies through mentorships and in-kind services, sponsoring original productions. King emphasizes the importance of uplifting the art and voices of Black creatives and creatives of color, affirming, "Our goal is to uplift the art and voices of Black creatives and creatives of color, and, ultimately, to display that artistry to diverse audiences." Indeed, the entire experience aims to transcend the mere concert format, creating a congenial space for participation and showcasing a varied lineup that changes as the show progresses, as reported by Orlando Weekly.
