An Orlando man has entered a guilty plea on serious drug and firearms charges, with a significant minimum prison sentence hanging over his head. Joshua Grant Cobb, 33, could spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced that Cobb awaits his sentencing on October 23.
Providing more details, the plea agreement describes how law enforcement was tipped off by a confidential source who claimed that Cobb was dealing methamphetamine and fentanyl/heroin from his residence. This led to a sting operation where Cobb was apprehended as he attempted to leave his apartment after completing a drug deal. He was found to be armed with a loaded handgun and was in possession of 55 grams of a fentanyl mixture.
Further investigation involved a search warrant executed at Cobb's domicile, where agents uncovered a significant haul of narcotics—over 700 grams of pure methamphetamine and more than 250 grams of fentanyl mixtures. The search also yielded six additional firearms, drug processing paraphernalia, and $4,000 in cash. As part of the plea deal, Cobb will have to forfeit all firearms and ammunition involved in the case.
