Osceola County has taken a step forward in addressing its infrastructure challenges with a proposed amendment to Ordinance 2012-31. According to a recent report posted on Osceola County's official website, the amendment pertains to Section 3 and seeks to offer more flexibility in the usage of existing funds - set aside specifically for road improvements. These funds, known as road impact fee fund balances, are designated to support projects that align with the goals and objectives laid out in the original ordinance.
The Business Impact Estimate (BIE), which is a mandated evaluation before the enactment of certain ordinances, was published on August 1st and is accessible through a link provided on the county's site. By amending the existing ordinance, the county aims to expand the scope of potential roadway projects that can be undertaken, including those in the Capital Improvement Program which are designed to enhance both safety and the capacity of roads. "This Ordinance protects the health, safety, and welfare of Osceola County citizens by allowing funds to be used for projects in the Capital Improvement Program intended specifically to improve safety and capacity improvements," reads the information provided on the Osceola County website.
Osceola County residents, business owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to review the BIE and attend the public hearing, equipped with information on how the proposed changes could affect the local landscape. Those interested in examining the report can find it on Osceola County's website.
