A lawsuit has been filed against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts by a Pennsylvania woman, who is seeking $50,000 in damages after claiming she was permanently injured during what is described as a "stampede" at their Magic Kingdom theme park. As reported by WESH, the plaintiff Debra O'Steen was walking on Main Street when she said she was knocked over by a rushed crowd, allegedly due to an event that was soon to begin.
The lawsuit, filed by O'Steen and her attorneys at Morgan & Morgan, alleges that the park was "packed" and "extremely busy," and that Disney failed in its duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition. O'Steen claims that the injuries sustained have led to mental anguish, lost wages, and medical expenses. According to FOX 35 Orlando, the incident took place on June 25th, but the lawsuit does not specify which park event was associated with the crowd that caused the alleged injury.
O'Steen is demanding damages and a trial by jury, highlighting the extent of her injuries, which includes bodily injury, mental and physical pain, and suffering, along with other financial hardships. Disney, known for its tight-lip policy on security practices, has security measures listed on its website but refrains from discussing specifics publicly to not compromise their effectiveness. As of yet, Disney has not publicly responded to the lawsuit or provided information concerning its crowd control safety protocols when reached for comment.
