In a move set to spice up the local dining scene, Pepper Lunch, a renowned Japanese fast-casual restaurant franchise, is bringing its sizzling plates to San Diego County with ambitious expansion plans. Having established a presence in 15 countries with more than 500 locations globally, the eatery known for letting customers cook their meals on hot iron plates is now ready to cater to the diverse San Diego palate. FOX 5 San Diego reported that the company aims to open five new locations in the area, though the exact spots have yet to be disclosed.
Founded in 1994 by chef Kunio Ichinose, Pepper Lunch was designed to provide affordable premium steaks served on a sizzling iron plate. This concept has transcended the borders of Japan to achieve international ubiquity. The menu features various selections, ranging from steak plates to teriyaki dishes and even vegetarian options like tofu. While a fixed timeline for the roll-out of these new sites hasn't been set, the franchise sees potential for growth in the San Diego area. "With a diverse population, and one which is used to unique, fresh and exciting flavors, we know area residents and guests will enjoy Pepper Lunch", Troy Hooper, the current CEO of Pepper Lunch, said, as per FOX 5 San Diego.
Adding a local twist to the expansion, TD Family Ventures, a group led by Bao Doan of the Urban Bubble bubble tea café fame, is partnering with Pepper Lunch to scout for prime locations across San Diego, particularly the North County. They are joined by San Diego residents Jadelyn Wang, Elizabeth Tran, Aaron Tran, and Cindy Tran, who are all playing their part in ensuring that Pepper Lunch's signature DIY cooking concept becomes a household name in their city. Further details can be found on the company's official website, as confirmed by SanDiegoVille.
