A west wind of 5 to 10 mph is expected, and the chance of precipitation stands at 30% with new rainfall amounts clocking in at less than a tenth of an inch, though this could increase during thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, Philadelphia residents can expect the scattered showers and thunderstorms to continue mainly before 7 p.m., following which skies will turn partly cloudy with a low around 68 degrees, the north wind will settle around 5 mph before becoming calm as the evening progresses and chance of precipitation remains unchanged at 30% and similar rainfall measurements are expected unless intensified by thunderstorm activity.
Looking forward to Tuesday, the NWS predicts a gradual clearing of the skies to full sunshine, with a high nearing 90 degrees, with calm conditions set to follow a light northeast wind of around 5 mph. Clear skies are also in the forecast for Tuesday night, with lows predicted to be around 72 degrees and a south wind at about 5 mph.
Midweek, Wednesday introduces a slight chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., thereafter the potential for showers and thunderstorms slightly increases after 5 p.m., despite this, it will mostly be sunny with the high soaring near 96 degrees, and the southwest wind will blow at 5 to 10 mph, the chance of precipitation idles at 20%, residents should brace for potentially higher than predicted rainfall during thunderstorm conditions.
As the week progresses, the NWS anticipates the possibility of showers and thunderstorms to rise significantly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. The weather should remain partly sunny with a high close to 81 degrees for Thursday, and temperatures dipping to a mostly cloudy 66 degrees at night. Friday may bring similar conditions, partly sunny with a high near 77 degrees and a chance of showers post 2 a.m. leading into a mostly cloudy evening with temperatures hovering around 67 degrees.
Continuing through the weekend, the forecast calls for a 40% chance of both showers and thunderstorms Saturday, which could extend into the night, while mostly cloudy skies prevail and high temperatures peak near 80 degrees, lows expected around 68, Sunday ushers in mostly sunny conditions, with a comfortable high near 84 to close out the week.
