Heads up, Philly drivers—your commute's about to get a bit more convoluted next week. PennDOT has pushed back the construction job on Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange, which was originally slated for August 6-9, thanks to an uncooperative Mother Nature. So mark your calendars: from Monday, August 12 at the early riser hour of 6:00 AM, right through until the afternoon of August 16 at 3:00 PM, you'll need to skip the ramp from Aramingo Avenue to both ways on I-95, as PennDOT has laid out.
But don't fret, there's a detour in place—drivers will be re-routed to the crossroads of Aramingo Avenue and Adams Avenue for their I-95 desires, but be warned, patience will be key because hold-ups and logjams are pretty much guaranteed during this infrastructural facelift, what with the heavy machinery and hi-vis vests swarming the scene, everyone's trying to get somewhere and now there's this roadwork that just had to happen.
It's all part of the grander $93.6 million I-95 Section BR2 dance, orchestrated to tighten up the connections around the Betsy Ross Bridge interchange and its adjoining asphalt tributaries that have been in the works—and these sorts of upgrades, they're the things that are built to last like a good leather jacket; PennDOT surely doesn't want to mess it up. PennDOT remarked that while this week's delay has jostled schedules, they are committed to keeping things on track with minimal disruption to the everyday flow of traffic.
