For Pierce County voters awaiting information on candidates and measures for the upcoming Primary Election, the wait is nearly over. According to the Pierce County Auditor's Office, voters' pamphlets were delayed due to an issue now resolved, and distribution through the U.S. Postal Service began on July 30. While some areas experienced this snag, ballots were sent out on schedule.
The affected regions encompass a range of locations, including Buckley, Carbonado, and DuPont – extending to parts of Parkland, Spanaway, and Midland. The distribution hiccup is expected to take a few days to iron itself out, depending on USPS carrier routes, potentially impacting voter preparation times. Nonetheless, despite the delay, the county's ballot return rate sits at a steady 7%, aligning with previous years’ data at this point in the election cycle.
Eager voters don't have to wait for their physical copy to arrive. The pamphlets are available online in the "Current Election" section of the Pierce County Elections website. Additionally, physical copies can be picked up at numerous locations, including libraries and community centers throughout Pierce County. These instant options provide an immediate solution for those looking to make informed decisions ahead of the Primary Election.
"This issue has been as frustrating for us as it has been for the affected voters," Pierce County Auditor Linda Farmer stated. The office is working with its print vendor to prevent such issues in the future, ensuring that the vital voters' pamphlets reach households without delay. The commitment to smooth and informed electoral processes is clear, despite the current bump in the road.
