Amid the sweltering heat of a Florida summer, deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office acted swiftly to save a small dog from a potentially fatal situation. On August 2, a call led them to an SUV with its windows up, parked outside a local courthouse, where they discovered the distressed canine. As reported by CBS12 report, deputies found the interior temperature of the car had reached an alarming 120 degrees due to the 88-degree weather outside.
Bodycam footage, now released, captures the tense moments as deputies made the decision to shatter the vehicle's rear window to gain access to the suffering animal. Officials said the dog had been trapped inside the hot car for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. After the successful rescue, deputies provided the dog with water and handed it over to animal control for treatment — confirming later that the dog was indeed okay.
This incident prompted a stern warning from the sheriff's office. "It's not okay for you, it's not okay for them. Never leave a pet or child in a vehicle," addressing the grave risks associated with such negligent actions. The owners of the dog, who were discovered inside the courthouse, were charged by officials with animal cruelty, as detailed in WFLA's coverage of the incident.
