Early this morning in Frick Park, emergency medical teams responded to a distress call involving an elderly man. Pittsburgh's Public Safety Department reported that an 85-year-old had sustained a hip injury after taking a fall on the Clayton Hill trail. The incident was said to have occurred around 8 a.m., compelling Pittsburgh EMS Medic 1 to swing into action.
Support swiftly followed from various units including 501, 502, Rescue 1, as well as Park Rangers, all of whom made their way to the scene. Navigating a quarter of a mile into the lush confines of the park, they found the injured man and rendered immediate medical attention. Despite the rough terrain, the medical and rescue teams managed to safely escort the patient to a waiting all-terrain vehicle, transporting him thereafter to the EMS Medic Unit stationed off Beechwood Drive.
The combined efforts of the responding teams facilitated a timely intervention. The elderly man, fortunately, was in stable condition when he arrived at the local hospital for further treatment. The individual's name and further details about his condition have not been released, maintaining a respect for privacy.
