Gunfire broke the relative calm of a Pittsburgh neighborhood near Carrick High School yesterday, prompting an urgent response from local police. According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter, officers from Zone 3 arrived at the scene around 12:30 p.m. following 9-1-1 calls reporting multiple shots in the 1800 block area of Brownsville Road, close to educational and recreational facilities.
Damaged by the gunfire, two vehicles were found on Brownsville while spent casings peppered the ground—six of them on a walkway outside Carrick High School on Parkfield Street. While no injuries have been reported, the incident occurred near a school, which raises concerns about the safety of the students and the community. School Police are actively looking for any potential video evidence that might shed light on the incident.
Further evidence of the shooting was discovered when a resident presented officers with what seemed to be bullet damage to her residence. Located in the 100 block of Parkfield Street, the damage was near her door, adding a personal impact to the day's violent disruptions.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, with authorities searching for suspects involved in the incident. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
