A domestic dispute erupted into a kidnapping situation last month when a Pomona man allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend following an argument, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Daniel Santibanez, 41, has been arrested on multiple charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, terrorist threats, and domestic violence.
The incident occurred on July 19, in unincorporated Montclair, where Santibanez purportedly coerced the victim into his vehicle, subsequently transporting her against her will. The official account indicates that the victim eventually managed to escape from the vehicle in Pico Rivera. Santibanez was taken into custody on August 5 and is currently held at West Valley Detention Center. As detailed by KTLA news, Santibanez's bail is set at $500,000 and his detainment also pertains to a separate case in Hermosa Beach, with an associated bail amount of $150,000.
The case caught the attention of Chino Hills deputies who responded to a call and conducted the investigation that led to the securing of an arrest warrant for Santibanez. Details of the kidnapping have been kept confidential, with the identity of the victim not being released to the public.
Santibanez’s court appearance is scheduled for August 20 at Rancho Superior Court.
