On a regular traffic stop on Grand Avenue and Peyton Drive in Chino Hills, a vehicle violation led officers to an illicit discovery. Deputy Jason Boord, from the Chino Hills Police Station, pulled over a car on Wednesday, July 31. The stop, which occurred at about midday, took a turn when the driver, identified as Vincent Chow, age 34 of Pomona, was less than cooperative and allegedly evaded the deputy's instructions.
An ensuing search of the vehicle revealed more than just a simple traffic infraction. According to officials, deputies spotted a large stash of what appeared to be narcotics on the front passenger seat. The search yielded approximately eight pounds of suspected drugs, including fentanyl, along with a substantial sum of U.S. currency and a weapon deftly hidden in the driver's door. Chow was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of transporting a controlled substance, per the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department's announcement.
The suspect was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center without further incident. The Sheriff's Department indicated that the narcotics were intended for sale, hinting at a greater issue within the community regarding the circulation of illegal drugs. This arrest throws a spotlight on the continuous battle between law enforcement and the drug trade in California.
