A rescue operation unfolded at Blacks Beach last Saturday afternoon when a person suffered a fall on a cliffside. Lifeguards received a distress call around 3 p.m. from an individual who had tumbled onto a ledge and sustained injuries. The San Diego Fire-Rescue team, in a swift response, deployed a twin-line rope rescue system to reach and secure the patient, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Descending the cliff face, lifeguards R. Vandever and A. Larkin, along with a stretcher, were lowered to where the victim awaited assistance. They executed the rescue with precision.
Once the patient was safely secured on the stretcher, the team coordinated their efforts to haul the individual to the top of the cliff. At the clifftop, paramedics were ready to assess the situation. The patient, fortunately, did not require further medical attention beyond the initial on-site assessment and was subsequently released, per the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
