Moms and dads in Rice County, Minnesota, looking to gain some newborn know-how now have even more reason to trust their local program, Baby Talk. Celebrating 25 years of supporting fresh-faced parents, Baby Talk has been honored with the 2024 Minnesota Association for Family and Early Education Innovative Programming Award, a commendable nod to a community staple that knows a thing or two about tiny tots. With a reach extending to 212 new moms over the past two years, it's no small feat for a county collaboration that's got parents cooing with appreciation, according to Rice County Minnesota.
While the program spans various locations, with Baby Talk held at the Northfield Community Education Center and its sibling program, Baby Stop, taking place in Faribault, each class remains steadfastly free, proving that the best things in life, or at least newborn education, need not cost a dime. "What an incredibly valuable resource the Northfield community has," gushed one new mom and Baby Talk attendee, her sentiments echoed by Fae Schumacher, Rice County's Family Child Health Supervisor, who spotlighted the programs as "great support for families with newborns," as stated by the Rice County Minnesota.
Those eager to get involved can whisk themselves and their wee ones off to the Baby Talk sessions every Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 AM at the Northfield Community Education Center, or flock to Baby Stop, Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:45 AM at the Faribault Education Center.
