Following a report of gunfire in Woodcrest last month, Riverside authorities have arrested a suspect, now identified as Martin Eduardo Ramos-Ceja, in connection with the shooting. The Riverside Sheriff's Department stated that deputies were called to the 17000 block of Van Buren Boulevard on the evening of Friday, July 26, after shots were fired towards a motorcycle and a business front window. No injuries were reported.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's press release, Ramos-Ceja, a 27-year-old Riverside resident, had been on the run since the incident. Investigators from the Lake Mathews Station, aided by the Major Crimes Bureau and the Regional Gang Task Force, successfully tracked Ramos-Ceja. He was arrested on August 15 without incident.
During a search of Ramos-Ceja’s home following his arrest, law enforcement officials reported that they found rifles, ammunition, and several high-capacity magazines. He is now facing charges for shooting at an inhabited dwelling and is currently housed at the Robert Presley Detention Center. The investigation is still active, with officials keeping close to vest any further details.
The Sheriff's Department has reached out to the public for any additional information related to the case. They have urged witnesses or those with knowledge of the shooting to contact Investigator Andrews at the Lake Mathews Sheriff Station.
