Residents of Laughlin can look forward to smoother drives and more accessible streets as road rehabilitation work is slated to pick back up after a summer hiatus. Clark County announced that starting September 4, contractors would hit the road again, focusing on a cluster of Laughlin neighborhoods. This marks the continuation of a $7.5 million second-phase infrastructure enhancement that began in April. Per the county's latest updates, commuters can expect work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with traffic control measures in place to mitigate any potential disruptions.
The ongoing project, west of Needles Highway along El Mirage Way and James A. Bilbray Parkway, intends to replace road pavement, install ADA-compliant curb ramps, and upgrade signage and striping. The earlier hiatus was a procedural pause as the summer's peak temperatures were ill-suited for such construction activities. In this next phase, concrete and utility work have already wrapped up, positioning crews to widen El Mirage Way near Banyon Drive, next week.
According to Clark County's announcement, after the current widening efforts, the focus will shift to milling and paving operations, beginning with Cottage Lilly Street and surrounding areas starting on September 4. Coos Beach Lane and its vicinity will follow suit the subsequent week. With such progress, this phase aims for completion by the end of 2024, following on the heels of the first phase which concluded in 2023 with $7 million in improvements to nine miles of road.
